Since the 1970's, 都会社区学院-Penn Valley (十大娱乐彩票平台-Penn谷) has offered college credit classes through the vocational program known as child growth 和发展.

In 1990, several community leaders and educators embarked on a journey to increase the quality of care for children by providing accessible and affordable education and professional development opportunities to adults working in the field.

A unique partnership was formed by 十大娱乐彩票平台-Penn谷, the 弗朗西斯家族基金会, the Greater Kansas City 社区 Foundation, Affiliated Trusts and KCMC Child Development 公司. Through this collaboration, the 弗朗西斯研究所 Resource Center was created to provide on-site technical assistance, education and training for early childhood and afterschool providers.

In 1995, with a lead gift from the 弗朗西斯家族基金会, a state-of-the art child care center was built to complement the existing Associate 应用科学(理学硕士).A.S.) program, providing students with opportunities for internships 和观察.

This addition allowed all of the 弗朗西斯研究所's services to be housed in one area; bringing new and existing programs under one umbrella and forming a three-tier 包含 Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED) Program, the child care center and the 弗朗西斯研究所 Resource Center.

Today, the 弗朗西斯研究所 provides trainings and resources for centers in the Kansas 城市区域.
